One of the most daunting tasks of owning a Game Server is getting it populated. It's frustrating paying all of this money to have no one play on your server. Here is a list of tips and trick to populate your Game Server.

Tips On Populating Your Game Server

  1. The Hostname - Pick a title for your server thats catchy yet descriptive. If you see a Game Server named "Counter-Strike Server" and "24/7 DE_DUST2 COME PLAY!" which are you more inclined to join?

  2. Mods - Spice up the game by installing some mods! What about some Warcraft 3 in your server? Or Capture The Flag?

  3. Niche - You might find theres thousands of Game Servers, how are you going to get players when theres so many to choose from? Fill a niche. Play a favorite map 24/7, have popular mods, get a server in a location that players want.

  4. Play! - Play on your server with friends! Nothing is more attractive to a potential player than seeing a active server where people are having fun. Your server wont fill itself!

  5. Rules - If you have a page full of "don't do this, don't do that" it's not horribly attractive to the potential player. Only restrict things that most people agree on, keep this to a minimum and listen to your players, afterall they're the one using your server.

  6. Bots - Now don't get carried away - but add a couple bots to your server to give the illusion people are playing. A server with players is more enticing than an empty one.

  7. Redirection Servers - This is a bit advanced but setup serveral servers but have them all redirect to a central server. You can even give the illusion the server is full by using different mods. This is more advanced - but a good way to get users. (Mods: FakeFull (AMXX), Simple Redirection (AMXX)
